  • How much milk does a cow produce per day?
    On average 25 litres.
  • What is pasteurisation?
    A heat process to destroy any bacteria present in milk, all Australian drinking milk must be pasteurised.
  • What breed of cows did Millers farm?
    Holstein Friesians.
  • How long does it take for a newly born calf to stand?
    Within 30 minutes of being born.
  • How long is a cow's pregnancy?
    Approx 283 days.
  • What age do cows usually live to?
    Around 15 years old.
  • How heavy is a mature cow?
    About 650 kg.
  • How many times a day do farmers milk their cows?
    Twice a day. Usually at 5.30am and 3pm daily.
  • Who put the cow in Cowaramup?

  • Do Millers still make ice cream?
    Absolutely YES! We still make premium ice cream on our Cowaramup family farm. We stopped farming & milking dairy cows, but we still make delicious ice cream using 100% Southwest milk.
  • Do Millers still do milking demonstrations?
    No, since we sold our dairy cows and stopped milking we no longer run the milking demonstrations.
